ThinkAZ is focusing its research on emerging and continuing public policy issues in Arizona. These issues include: education, healthcare services and costs, immigration, the effects of growth on public infrastructure and natural resources, and state and local finances.

ThinkAZ is interested in improving the understanding of the issues facing both the urban and rural communities of our state. Because of the complexity of public policy issues today, ThinkAZ is composed of a multidisciplinary staff with expertise in economics, education, healthcare, state fiscal policy, natural resource management, and state and regional planning, including transportation planning.

Currently, ThinkAZ is focusing on the role of federal funds in the state budget, the impact of term limits on the state legislature, a guide to rural water management, student population and academic trends in our K-12 schools, and standards-based accountability in the state’s public school system.

ThinkAZ works closely with state and local officials, civic groups, and research organizations in Arizona and across the country, to ensure that its work is comprehensive and balanced, as well as scholarly. The goal is to provide better tools for the state’s decision-makers to facilitate their efforts to find solutions to the problems confronting our state.
